Early Life
On April 30, 1990, Mac Demarco was born at Duncan, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island. However, they moved to Edmonton, Albert, where he spent most of his childhood right after his parents divorced when he was only four years old. His mother later renamed him McBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco after his father refused child support.
DeMarco was named after his grandfather Vernor Smith, Railways and Telephones. His grandmother was the judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, who’s name Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith.
Later on, Mac DeMarco’s music interest kicked in when he took guitar classes. His grandmother also assisted him in learning a thing or two about guitar and music.
