Early Life

Steve Burns is an American born in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, on 9th October 1973.  He was brought up with his father, Joseph, Mother, Janet, and his two sisters Karen and Jennifer. Steve’s father worked at Safeguard Business System as a human resource director after leaving the United States Navy, and in 2015, he sadly succumbed to cancer.

Steve Burns went to Boyertown Area High school, and in 1992 he graduated. He was admitted on an acting scholarship to DeSales University to study theatre. As a high school and university student, Burns participated in the band Sudden Impact US, the Ivys, and Nine Pound Truck.

While in the university, an agent discovered him. He dropped out of college and relocated to New York, and became a professional actor. Steve lived near Times Square in a basement apartment, getting his first appearances on  Homicide: ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Life On the Street’ and success for ads as a voice-over artist in the mid-90s.

In 1995, Steve Burn auditioned for “Blue’s Clues” with an earring, Army fatigue pants, and long hair. Initially, Nickelodeons executives were not pleased with the idea of Steve being the host. Still, the show creators asked him to dress conservatively during the subsequent auditions, and he acquired the job. On 8th September 1996, “Blue’s Clues” premiered.

Steve Burns made an appearance on the series in nearly 100 episodes, and during the final episode of the series in 2002, Steve introduced Donovan Patton, his replacement, to the audience. Steve acknowledges the reason why he left is he knew he would work for long in a children’s television all his life. Most importantly, he wasn’t ready to lose his hair on the child ren’s TV show, which was happening so fast.

Steve Burns again incorporated Drozd in the science-fiction film “Christmas on Mars” in 2008. In the 2007 movie “Netherbeast Incorporated,” Steve played the vampire Otto Granberry alongside Dave Foley, Darrell Hammond, and Jason Mewes. In 2012, steve also made appearances in a Youtube series “The Professional.”

Other productions that steve made appearances in include the 2007 DeSales University “Amadeus” production, then “The Comedy of Errors” in 2011. He also appeared in “Buiding Blocks,” a children’s album in 2018.
