Early Life

On Tuesday, December 19, 1989, Ashley Flowers was born in southern Indiana, United States. Ashley was born of a Christian family with her father, Mr. Flowers, a businessman, and mother, Lisa Flowers, a homeworker. Ashley flowers is the eldest of three children named David Flowers and Alissa Flowers.

 Ashley went to Arizona State University, where she completed her education in biomedical research. After that, she began working as a genetic researcher at the University of Notre Dame. After that, she eventually moved to software sales and worked at a software company in Indiana.

In a Q&A with ‘Inside Radio,’ Flower revealed that she and her co-host Prawat are longtime buddies and have known each other since they were young. Prawat and Flower were born on the same day and became friends through Flowers’s mother, and as they grew up together, they became obsessed with a true crime story. Flowers also said that thanks to her mom, she grew up reading Agatha Christine and Nancy Drew, which grew her interest in true crime.

After that, Flowers joined the board of directors for Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana, where she hosted a 20 minutes show of RadioNOW 100.9 in Indianapolis. The show intended to promote crime stoppers and improve the organizations that stand with young audiences, and the show lasted one year.

While Flowers was on an interview at WTHR, she stated that the name ‘Crime Junkie’ came to her when she was still working at ‘Crime Stoppers.’ She also said that she felt there were not enough podcasts to tell the whole story and decided to create her own that she would enjoy.

In December 2017, Flowers released her first episode, and she has been releasing new episodes every week. Flowers was working at a hospital while managing her podcast ‘Crime Junkie,’ and in 2019, she decided to make ‘Crime Junkie’ her full-time job.
