Johnson was born on September 29, 1985, by his father, Calvin Johnson, who served at the Southern Pacific Railroad, and mother, Arica Johnson, who worked as an administrator at the Atlanta School system.
However, during his middle school time, Johnson was 6 feet tall and 6 feet 4 inches as a sophomore in high school, where he made ten touchdowns and 34 receptions for 646 yards.
