Robert Ralph Minkoff, also nicknamed Rob Minkoff, is an American director born on August 11, 1962. He co-directs a popular Disney animation, ‘The Lion King’ with Roger Allers, hence winning the Academy Award. Early Life
On August 11, 1962, Robert Minkoff was born in Palo Anton, California. He was born Jewish with his father, Jack, while his mother, Tola. He went to ‘Palo Alto High School in his teenage age and later joined the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita.’ He graduated in the 80s from the Character Animation department.
While still studying at ‘California Institute on the Arts,’ Minkoff got a job from Walt Disney Animation Studio in (1983) as an in-between artist for its film, ‘The Black Cauldron’ in (1985). Minkoff’s breakthrough to his career came when he co-directed with Roger Allers ‘The Lion King’ a Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film (1994). The film was an instant success upon release and became the highest-grossing film in 1994 and the highest-grossing animated film of the time, with a gross of over $763 million.
